Kittens first Check-Up…

July 15th, 6 PM, First Vet Appointment for the Kittens.

Tiger and Marley were a little unsure when I put them in their individual pet carriers as soon as I got home from work. This is usually “play time” not “get locked up in a cage time”.

Marley was very VOCAL on the ride over in the car. Tiger didn’t make a peep. Got all the paperwork filled out and we were off to the scales to get weighed in. Tiger (male) weighs in at a whopping 7 lbs. Marley (female) weighs in at 5 lbs.

Off to the exam room to sit and wait. 25 minutes of waiting. Tiger was now the VOCAL one. Marley fell asleep about 10 minutes into the waiting time.

The nurse finally came in and did temperatures (normal) and listened to their hearts (normal). The doctor finally came in at 45 minutes. (By this point, both kittens were ready to go home and I was starved.)

Feline AIDS tests were given. Test results negative. First round of vaccinations were given AFTER both kittens were given their first “pedicures”. I can’t blame them. I wouldn’t want to have those long claws coming at me if I had a needle in my hand either. Both kittens were given a de-worming and medication – just in case. Test results should be back in a few days and we will see if they have to have it done again at the next visit.

Both Tiger and Marley were given a clean bill of health. They are progressing normally. They have their next appointment on 8/5 at 6 PM. I will be sure to grab something to eat before we go and take some reading material for the long wait. I’ll be prepared.

When we got home from the vets, both of them were VERY TIRED and just couldn’t keep their little eyes open. Here is the picture I took of them crashed out while I was checking my email before going to bed. I was only on the computer for 5 minutes. They were asleep in about 1/2 that time.
