• Bald eagles can fly 20 to 40 mph in normal flight, and can dive at speeds over 100 mph!
• Bald eagles have a wingspan of 6-7 feet, and 12 week old eaglets can have larger wingspans than adults (it helps them with flight in the first year of life).
• Females can be 25% larger than males and weigh up to about 14 pounds.
• Bald eagles don’t get their characteristic white head and tail until they are about 4-5 years old.
